THE UNBELIEVERS
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful We believe in Allah and the Last Day! The Faithful know that it is the Truth from their Lord. When Our Guidance is revealed — those who accept it shall have nothing to ‘fear or regret.’ Fortify yourselves with patience and Prayer, so that you might be rightly guided. Eat of the ‘good things’ We have given you, that you may ‘guard yourselves’ against evil. But for Allah’s Grace and Mercy, you would have been among the lost! Praise be to Allah Who has revealed the Book to His Servant ‘shorn of falsehood and unswerving’ from the Truth! Does he not know, and can he see what is hidden? Had you looked upon them? Clear is his sight, and keen is his hearing. Do not turn ‘your eyes’ away from them, in quest of the good things of ‘this life.’ Allah has power over all things, accept this from Us! Allah has chosen for you ‘the True Faith’ that you might be witnesses to the People, and that the Messenger may be witness to you! Those to whom the Scriptures were given, know this to be the Truth from their Lord, but some of them deliberately conceal the Truth. Thus We have sent among you of yourselves, ‘a messenger’ — to recite Our Signs to you and to purify you. And to teach you ‘the Book and the Wisdom’ and, to teach you that ‘which you did not know!’ ********** There are ‘common people’ who ‘ignorant of the Scriptures’ know nothing, except lies and conjectures! We have sent you forth to proclaim the Truth, and ‘give warning’ — ‘this Qur’an’ could not have been devised by any but Allah. But most men do not believe! We sent Noah forth to his people, but ‘the unbelieving elders’ of his people said: “We see you ‘nothing’ but a man like ourselves nor do we see that any follow you, except our ‘meanest ones’ of hasty judgment. Nor do we see in any of you ‘any merit’ above ourselves. In fact, we think you are liars!” ….. and they said: “He is no more than a man like yourselves, who desires ‘to gain superiority’ over you. We never heard ‘this such thing’ among our ancestors of old. He is only a man possessed!” ….. Surely in ‘this’ there are signs, and surely We put mankind ‘to the test!’ Then after them We produced another generation, and We sent to them an Apostle from among themselves! The elders of his people who believed not said: “This is a man like ourselves, who eats what you eat and drinks what you drink, and if you obey a man like yourselves you will be losers! He is nothing but a man who has ‘forged a lie’ about Allah, and we will not believe in him!” ….. Then We sent Our Apostles ‘in succession’ and every time there came to a People their Apostle — they accused him of falsehood! Satan made their ‘foul deeds’ seem fair to them, and they became of them who were destroyed! ********** Allah is the enemy of the unbelievers, take heed and do not renounce your Faith! Many of the People of the Book wish to lead you back to unbelief. You will please neither the Christians nor the Jews, unless you follow their Faith! Follow what Allah has revealed to you, a Book of Guidance, and an explanation of that guidance — ‘distinguishing right from wrong’ so that you may prosper! Have fear of Allah, and know that He is with the righteous! Mankind were once ‘one Nation’ — Allah knows, and it is He that created you from clay! They will argue, but you ‘do not!’ Do not make game of Allah’s Revelations, and the Book and the Wisdom which He has revealed for your instruction. Say: “O you unbelievers, I worship not that which you worship, nor do you worship what I worship. To you be your religion and to me be mine!” ….. Allah knows the evil-doers who will not believe in it. It is not ‘the devils’ who brought down this Qur’an. It is neither in their interest nor in their power!
