THE OATH
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful By ‘the Pen,’ and ‘the Book in lines’ in an Open Writing! I am this creation from whence all this ‘sprang’ — this ‘Treatise of the Law.’ When Allah made His Covenant with the Prophets, He said: “Here are the Scriptures and the Wisdom I have given You! A messenger will come forth to confirm them. Believe in him, and render him help. Do you confirm this, and take My Covenant as binding on You?” ….. They replied: “We agree!” ….. This is ‘the Power’ of ‘that Oath’ — for powerful it is, and strong! Through it ‘their paths’ are preserved, and ‘their course’ is not destroyed. Thus far only — ‘this’ does not suffice to know it. Because the name of that ‘Son of man’ had been revealed to them, and ‘the sum of Judgment’ was given to that Son of man. This is the ‘fuller account’ of it. ….. ********** “Is your name John, Servant of Allah, who is only now just breathing? See this ‘faded beauty?’ Call on your Lord, knowing that He is everything, and He will answer you! Entreat Him for ‘your consort’ and He will revive her! Why do you tarry? ‘The Cloud’ has come, and you are now ‘the Blessed’ of the Lord! You are now in ‘great honor!’ Yes, now is the time for ‘refreshment and confidence’ in you. Be not high-minded. Look upon your brothers, keep your soul ‘unmoved and unwavering.’ For none of Us will ever speak freely again, if anything happen to you. Come! Fear not, cast back ‘the bolt.’ Peace be unto you! Rise up and glorify the name of Allah, that We may rule Supreme! Indeed the understanding dwells in you. You have not swerved from the Truth. Declare it! This is what the Lord promised ‘Us’ — We should be ‘preserved in Knowledge’ according to your word. So be it! It has no refutation from now on! Declare ‘His Glory’ among the heathen’ and His Marvelous Works’ among all nations! Let them refresh themselves. Your word ‘is True’ and in ‘your hand’ lies all that is ‘good’ — for ‘Great’ is the Lord, and greatly to be praised! This was ‘Our Pact’ with you! You are judging Us, but Allah shall judge you. You are ‘the hearer!’ Now that you are ‘risen’ let the devil be silenced. Remember Allah always. Allah has chosen you! Count Us among your Witnesses. Stand fast in the Faith and ‘bear witness’ that We have surrendered to Allah and not men! ‘See’ and let these things not confound, but confirm you! This is certainly the ‘fitting way.’ Work! Now that it has been formed, join them together and make them a single one so that they might grow together. They are ‘eternal and unchanging’ which We send to you with all Our heart. Rejoice over this, which is Light! Language is not able to reveal this. Understand while you rest, that it might be written in this ‘Imperishable Book.’ You will do this without having transgressed at all, but in Purity, and asking Allah for Wisdom and Knowledge.” ….. ********** This is ‘the Oath!’ Behold, it ‘leaps forth’ — the ‘allotment of His Good!’ It is exceedingly wonderful, from which Knowledge has been produced in me. He placed him in ‘Learning and Knowledge.’ Are you astonished that it has come into being out of pure matter? The abundance that does not envy? It is no wonder to me that I accept and believe this Treatise of the Law in the last time! Allah, the Creator, established ‘His Design’ — which is good, and against the disorder! He took away error and cut off evil, and what ‘He wills’ — He wills! It is not necessary to be afraid of this, for it has been delivered from Evil!
