In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

John, We have not bestowed this Qur’an on you that you should be distressed! But only as a Reminder to those who fear Allah, who stand in awe! Whatsoever in the heavens and the earth, and all in between belongs to Him — there is no god but He!

I am Raphael, one of the seven Holy Angels, who present the Prayers of the Saints, and enters into the presence of the Glory of the Holy One! Do not be afraid, but praise Allah forever. I did not come as a favor on my part, but by the Will of Allah! If We willed, We could withdraw that which We have revealed to you. It is only by your Lord’s Grace!

To what purpose is it to learn much, and not observe it? Those who persevere in patience, put their trust on their Lord! I say this that they may know — all that a man learns, let it be to observe it and not merely know it! His favor towards you is great indeed!

If all mankind and all invisible beings were to gather together to produce the like of this Qur’an — they could not produce its like, even though they backed each other up with help and support! We have sent you with glad tidings and to warn — bearing a discourse which We have gradually unfolded from on High. Step by step — that you may recite it to Mankind in intervals!

Though you are eager to show them the right way — seek not to hasten it! It rests with Allah alone to show you the Right Path, do not therefore call for its speedy advent! And I say this that they may know that those commandments of Allah written in the Law ought to be observed — if they would afterwards learn more! Do you think that Allah has given the Law for love of the Law? The doctrine is written down so that it ought to be studied!

Allah gives His Law in order that man might work good — for love of Allah! I tell you Allah shall preserve from the flames of Hell, those who work Righteousness, wheresoever they be! Man ought to spend all the time of his life not in learning how to speak or to read — but in learning how to work well. Woe unto the world that studies only to please a body that is clay, and studies not, but forgets the service of Allah, Who has made all things; and Who is Blessed for evermore!

O Mankind! Tell me, would it have been a great sin of the priests if when they were carrying the Ark of the testimony of Allah they had let it fall to the ground? But what do you, when you are making Prayer? Take care not to do so, so as not to corrupt the work! I tell you there, and no where else men find the Grace and Mercy of Allah. Be ever conscious of standing before Allah, whether you are in the company of others or alone!

Is it right that your friend should for this cause be offended? Under the pretext of that which is not better? Beware that you receive not such men for friends, who have said to your soul: “Bow down!”.…. For in truth they are enemies and slayers of the soul! Say: “Is he who goes ‘prone on his face’ better guided? Think, and do not ‘hold yourselves above Allah’ for this desires the Devil. As here he seeks to be ‘higher than Allah’ and not wishing to recognize ‘anyone above him!’ The same do you when you go to make Prayer. Look to it, and further not this wicked device!” …..

If he shall be offended, because you have more reverence for Allah than for him, believe me, he will not be a friend of yours nor a Believer, but rather an unbeliever and a companion of Satan. For a friend will not find contradiction against him who he supremely loves!

Every time you shall correct your brother with mercy, you shall receive the Mercy of Allah, and your words shall bear some fruit! But beware that you hold not yourself for better! When you correct your brother, say to yourself: If Allah helped me not with His Grace, I would be worse than he!

Believers! If Allah was to take men immediately for their wrong doing, He would not leave a single living creature upon its face! But He gives respite for a stated term. As it is they earn but the Fire! Even before your time We sent Apostles to the Nations, because Satan made all their doings fair-seeming to them. Do you understand?

It is just that he that will not believe on the Truth to his salvation, should believe in a lie to his damnation! In all this there is a message indeed, for people who think! Draw near John! He shall bring with him the Mercy of Allah, for salvation of those who shall believe in him. He desires that you should leave all things for love of Allah! And John, We have bestowed upon you from on High this Divine Writ — that you may make clear unto them, all that wherein they differ!
